For life drawing today I tried using my graphics tablet and computer to draw.
Even though I do digital art a lot, I actually found doing life drawing with my tablet really hard, probably because I usually only stare at my screen (for hours on end)
so it was defiantly a challenge to switch between watching the life model and the screen.
For our second session we did the finger painting again but this time we were told to do it with the primary colors, I think that the pictures with more colors look the best and I quite like how the different shade of colors mix.
We then tried doing perspective which I need to work on a lot, but I think I did alright though.
From my last designs I decided to combined the two that everyone liked the most and this is what I came up with.
For my designs I originally went for a greeny nature type of theme,
But I then came to the conclusion that the theme didn’t fit at all
so then I thought that the Hub was quite a modern
and technical place, so I decided to go for a type of
futuristic design that’s very shiny, which could symbolism
growth for our future and ourselves as we advance into our studies.
Recently I've been stuck in a slump or what could possibly have been a very bad case of ART BLOCK, I attempted drawing everyday but the results I got weren't very good and I hated my style of drawing characters, So I had a rant to my boyfriend and he told me to experiment with different styles.
The style I looked at was mainly focused on Disney and my own boyfriends work which is realistic/ cartoony.
The main inspiration for this sudden urge to change was from a song called Freak Kitchen-Freak of the week, which the video was traditionally animated by an ex Disney animator called Juanjo Guarnidos. (Plus the way he draws hair is gorgeous)
Freak Kitchen’s latest album “Cooking with Pagans.
Eventually I started coming onto something (which took forever)
The style I was trying to go for was a mix between cartoony but with a bit of realism to it, which I think I managed to get, either way I really like the style.
To try and get away from the anime style I made the eye's smaller which I think looks alot better.
After doing this I decided to experiment with some others character I had created awhile ago.
Last week we started doing life drawing again. Personally I actually really enjoyed the lesson, while I had to get into it again I think I did pretty well.
I think that life drawing really benefits me, Since I like drawing characters, it really helps with poses and proportions.
Half way through the lesson we were told to do quick poses, such as ;10 min, 5 min, 2 min, 1 min, and 2 second poses. which I found really fun, I loved the rush of trying to get a full picture done and I think that it is really helpful. But it did get to the point where I was just drawing one line.
On this picture here we were given a stick with a pencil stuck to it and were told to draw with it at a distance, which was really difficult, but I did end up getting the hang of it.
